MPO Loopback Attenuator

MPO loopback is a device used to test the performance and functionality when designing and making transceivers or active components. It enables network engineers and technicians to test optical links in networks or devices by looping back the connection from the Tx to Rx pairs by simulating a full signal loopback. This is a critical part of the testing process as it accurately measures both insertion and return loss, two key metrics that affect the overall performance of a fiber optic network.

Arkoptics MPO Loopback can be mated directly to a parallel optical device such as a Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP) transceiver with a 4-lane configuration and CXP transceiver with a 10-lane configuration. For multimode applications, attenuated MPO Loopback can be used to simulate longer links in a network, with up to 5dB attenuation. With standard or custom pinouts available for 8- to 24-fiber MT ferrules, the Loopback can accommodate specific optical-routing needs. The small and compact housing design allows side-by-side mounting in dense board applications and tight spaces. This design makes it ideal for blades with multiple optical components on a face plate.
