SC male to female attenuator is a passive fiber device using ion doped fiber to reduce signal power without distorting its waveform. Its male end is approximately the size of a SC connector, and the female end is much like a SC adaptor slot for another SC connector plugging in. The attenuation works when signal received from female end and transit to the male end so as to balance the in-line signal power.
SC male to female attenuators are designed for testing equipment, video transmission, optical fiber communication system, cable television network, optical fiber access network etc. They are ideal for debugging optical power performance and optical fiber signal attenuation, widely used in the receive port of equipments, such as GBIC modules, and interfaces of routers and switches.
